I am experiencing this on my netbook... If i run it with alsa all works fine.
Problem is, its my wife's netbook and it runs gnome, which she really likes.
And gnome depends on pulseaudio
Maybe anyone here knows a fix for this?

The device is properly configured... sound works in all applications. And it does also work in skype, just with stuttering results.

Check the cpu usage with top and see if skype+pulse are not using close to 100% of the cpu time.
Did you check if recording with another application (from pulse) does really work well?

I checked htop and it never exceeds 30% CPU usage.
I havent recorded from another application, but i simply ditched PA now, replaced gnome with xfce and all works fine...
