aur improvement suggestion

It would be nice to have an automatic timestamp for comments in the aur which takes the current PKGBUILD version at the time of comment. That way, one can easily recognize which comments may be obsolete.

Also, it would be nice if the maintainer of the aur package could delete comments to clean up the pages, if you want to prevent abuse of power you could have the author of the deleted comment send an email where he/she can veto within a few days before the comment gets automatically removed and limit the number of attempted comment deletions to three.

If you look at the davical package for example, you can see there is a lot of junk that needs to be cleaned up in the comment section...

Re: aur improvement suggestion

I don't see a lot of comments on davical AUR page, but I'd guess some of the are out of date.
Every time the package gets updated, you can (and maybe you should) post a comment, maybe even a changelog or shortlog. Every comment that comes after this should be discussing the new version.
The only thing that comes close to "timestamping" is the way new versions of archboot are handled - each gets a new thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewforum.php?id=24 plus the old thread gets closed.

If you want order, set up a wiki page :-)
