Is it possible to use Courier New (or just Courier) as a console font?

Hi, is it possible to use Courier New (or if i can't get that to work, Courier) as a console (i.e. not in X) font, and if so, how?

Thanks.

I think you can only use special 'consolefonts' for the console.  In Arch they seem to be part of the kbd package, installed to /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/.

Hey Karol, do you know if bdf2psf is included in psftools? I was just reading this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 49#p770649 , and noticed that it was from Ashren also.

edit:I guess I could have looked at the website. It appears it doesn't. But the instructions in the thread above should be good enough.

I've installed psftools and I'm afraid the answer is 'No':

[karol@black test]$ pacman -Ql psftools | grep bdf2psf

/usr/bin/
/usr/bin/bbc2psf

Something tells me you're going to provide a PKGBUILD for even easier use ;P

^^ Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing. I'll see what I can do later when I have some time. ^^

You can convert a bdf font to a psf and use it in a console. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=52888
AFAIK Courier New is a MS font so I don't think it's distributed as *.bdf (if it's distributed at all: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=52982 doesn't have it)
