I have an issue with a laptop: However, I did not post this under laptop issues, because is not anything just related with the laptop "unique" hardware.....
The thing is that i would like to know if there is any way to know if the system is detecting or not a minijack connected to the earphones plug: Something like when you plug a device and you can see under dmesg or lsusb or lspci that the hardware is there... how can i know where is the sound being redirected?
Long story: The laptop i want to check this in does not output any sound neither on windows nor on arch, but if you plug earphones, you can heard sound through them... so, two things can be happenning:
1: The speaker is broken (Replacing it would be like 12 euro)
2: The microjack is faulty and is constantly detecting connected earphones on it.......
If point 2 is the actual problem, buying the earphones would be just a waste of time and money.....
So,... can anyone help me?
Thanks!!!!

Jack detection in linux is still a bit hit-and-miss, though I understand progress has been made on the alsa side, enough that pulseaudio devs are considering ways to process this information meaningfully (which I took to mean that some/most alsa-side drivers provide jack-detection).
Google for jack-detection, at the least, I'm not familiar with details, sorry to say.
