Canon MG5200 mystery error

Been working on this for a few days now... my AUR package builds (after editing a small bit of code that is lacking some necessary information to build with cups) but I can't seem to figure out why it refuses to print.  If I install the printer via system-config-printer, cups tells me the print was successful when the printer physically did nothing.  If I install via CUPS web interface, anything I print is paused with "cannot load library" and reading the logs shows nothing more detailed than "cannot load library"...  does ANYONE have any idea how I can further troubleshoot this?
