ImgBurn + Wine

Im using arch 64, and i am unable to run ImgBurn properly..... it just displays an error message saying that the program cannot start and that's it.

Does anyone around here use ImgBurn as i do? How did you manage to make it work?

Thank you!!!

Re: ImgBurn + Wine

Is Wine even compatible with the burning of CDs/DVDs? There's plenty of Linux burning software; K3b, Brasero, xfburn to name a few.

Re: ImgBurn + Wine

Yes, i had imgburn working in the past, and i need it to burn xbox backups, because growisofs currently does not do the trick... and as i recall ImgBurn working on Arch before, i installed it again today: No luck... it just does not work, and i dont know if its just a missing dll or what.

Thanks!

Re: ImgBurn + Wine

Have you tried older versions of imgburn ?  I've run into a couple programs that were updated and stopped working regardless of the version of Wine or updates to Arch.  Rolling back to an older version of the Windows program "fixed" it.  If the older version works + does what you need, maybe it's good enough.

Yes, going back to old versions could be the solution but as I heard, the last version has something changed so the burning process for xbox360 backups works without giving problems: I guess i will go talk with the guys at WineHQ... maybe I can file a report and they can fix it for the next version of wine ... smile

Re: ImgBurn + Wine

Ok, I found what the problem was:
Wine has two branches: Stable (1.2.3) and Development (1.3.31)

Well, ImgBurn won't work with the latest Development release, which is the official one supported by arch linux
Instead, you might want to install this package: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=35486 which is the stable branch (1.2.3), which works fine with the latest ImgBurn

The developer of ImgBurn already knows about this, and i guess he will try to fix the things with wine so next version will fix the current problems with this app.....
