Submitting and using patches from other distros

I would like to know your opinion and to discus one thing. Is it possible to include patches form other linux distributions in 'official' repos? The good example are packages that are already available via AUR, which are the same as arch, but with additional ubuntu patches. Some of them are:

and much more.
So maybe it is good idea not to double many versions in AUR, but include some patches from other ditros in packages maintained by 'official' packagers and developers.

btw. as I understand anybody can send their patches with git https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Su … _Git_Guide but I don't know it is good idea to send existing patches from other ditros to devs with git and force them to control many times the same requests

No, Arch tries to use vanilla packages. If you want patches - use AUR / unofficial repos.

Ubuntu's font patches unfortunately scare distros by raising the potential for patent nastiness - Ubuntu itself can afford lawyers.

I think ABS is meant for this: to patch the official packages yourself. Arch policy is to patch as little as possible.
