Anyone heard of this before? I was compiling some piece of software, and it said it was conformant to this..it was the first time I had heard of it, actually..

Interesting, i've never heard of that. What software were you compiling that was conformant to this FHS?
"Oh, they have the internet on computers now."

EDIT: Apparently it is not specific to tripwire-portable..it is part of the main tripwire-opensource branch.

I heard about it when doing some initial research into different distros to choose from about 6 months ago when I put together my new machine. I've also done a Linux From Scratch installation, which alters a few things to be compliant with FHS. I think it's a great idea, and would help to make things a little more standardized across distrobutions if everyone could conform to it.

yep, i first "heard" about it when building my LFS too... in theory, the Linux distros should be compliant with it so we all have the same "idea" on how the system works, ofcourse this didnt happen.

 cactus, i'm speechless. Is this a sarcastic joke? I admit i first heard of it while playing with LFS too but i thought it was something that everyone knew and I was just late hearing about it!
I guess not
