switching tty's on a macbook pro [solved]

How is this achieved.  Ctrl+Alt+F2 for example on my desktop.  No idea how to do it on a Macbook Pro.

fn-ctrl-alt-F2 http://wiki.debian.org/MacBook

'chvt' can sort of do the same.
