[SOLVED] Xorg crashes with Intel HD GPU

Hi everyone,

I have problems with my Intel HD video: Xorg keeps crashing while working on the laptop.

My laptop:

ASUS K52JC
Intel i3-320M

I have installed the following AUR packages:

dri2proto-git 20111021-1
glproto-git 20111021-1
libdrm-git 20111021-1
mesa-full 20111021-1
xf86-video-intel-git 20111021-1

AUR packages are installed because packages from the default repos keeps giving me gnome-shell 'freezes/pauses'.
The freeze 'bug' is gone with AUR packages, but still I have Xorg crashes.

Does anyone with a Intel GPU has some tips? What I tried so far: official repo packages, AUR packages, 20-intel.conf (with/without AUR packages - no diff.), update everyday, look on Google/forums. What are the 'most stable' packages that are released?

lsmod: http://pastebin.com/H8xQyBcK
Xorg.0.log: http://pastebin.com/44wC85kC
Xorg.0.log.old: http://pastebin.com/kxRJgrPc

Would be great if someone could help me. smile
If you need more information, please let me know.

Thanks!

You could try Xfce. I have a Core i3 550 and no crashes or pauses in Xorg, with or without compositing, with the normal repos packages.
(Maybe not the answer you're looking for but that's all I've got wink).

Re: [SOLVED] Xorg crashes with Intel HD GPU

I think the problem is solved:

sudo pacman -R flashplugin

No more Xorg crashes, maybe the new git packages are not compatible with flashplugin from repo's?

I will test if the solution works, otherwise I will reply in this topic. smile (so please don't close it yet tongue)

Is there any way to check if direct rendering, opengl, etc. running fine?
This could be a driver issue.

@stqn: Thanks for the tip, tried Xfce but I think it is to basic. Runs fine on 'old hardware' btw. smile
