Crackling sound in arch linux

Hi there,
After experimenting w/ arch, kde, i went to watch star trek on vlc :-) . Everything worked fine for about 5 minutes, then an annoying crackling sound appeared and it won't go! I have pulse and alsa and all my otehr audio drivers and codecs set up. I tried a different pair of headphones and the problem persists. I installed pavucontrol and turned off audio scheduling as per this tutorial: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=120162 and still no luck.
The sound is like radio static. Im hoping someone can help so i can watch my beloved star trek!! :-)
Thanks

Re: Crackling sound in arch linux

Its a known bug with VLC. try downgrading a few versions. I've personally given up using vlc for the time being.
