I gotta be the only one in the world who wants to do that
So, I'm gonna buy an SSD for my laptop, a 64 GB Crucial m4.
I'm new to SSD partitionning, so I took a look at the SSD archwiki article where I saw this warning:
Warning: If you plan to dual boot with Windows (XP, Vista or 7) do NOT use GPT since they do NOT support booting from a GPT disk in BIOS systems! You will need to use the depreciated MBR method described below for dual-boot in BIOS systems! This limitation does not apply if you boot in UEFI mode and using Windows Vista (64bits) or 7 (64bits). For 32-bit Windows Vista and 7, and 32 and 64-bit Windows XP, you need to use MBR partitioning and boot in BIOS mode only.
Well, if the MBR method is depreciated, I guess it's not for nothing, so I'm looking at the UEFI solution, but I don't know anything about that, I don't even know if my laptop is UEFI *fully* compatible, the only thing I know is that in my BIOS setup I saw those things: Picture 1 and Picture 2
UEFI Boot [Disabled | Enabled]
and
Launch EFI Shell from filesystem device
To you, do I have the required *hardware* to make a dual boot from SSD using UEFI ?
Thanks a lot, even if I don't know if someone could help me !

Yes you do have the required hardware to do UEFI "dual-boot". Everything is explained at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GRUB2 and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Un … _Interface . For Windows UEFI info goto https://gitorious.org/tianocore_uefi_du … pages/Home .
EDIT: You need to use Archboot iso https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Archboot to do UEFI boot and install.
