I would like to start the sphinx search daemon
/usr/local/sphinx/bin/searchd
I tried adding that full path into the /etc/rc.conf with no luck.
Thanks

Why is it installed to /usr/local? The AUR package puts the start up script /etc/rc.d.

It is because I didn't install it via the AUR. I will do so now and see if that solves this.
Thanks

If you really need to do it manually, you can write an rc.d script. Just use one of the others as a template.
