Hello there,
since yesterday evening I'm trying desperately to get my Canon iP2600 Printer to work with CUPS. I downloaded the corresponding drivers from Canons wobsite and installed them. I also blacklisted usblp. Still I can't get it to print even the testpage -let alone anything else. The Configuration in CUPS itself works quite well. But commissioned Jobs don't even appear on the JOBS-List... I also tried to re-install the printer with system-config-printer, nothing changed tho.
CUPS-Errorlog (/var/log/cups/error_log) doesn't supply any useful information regarding the printer.
Anyone out there who has this baby working?
Cheers

See if this thread is any help.

EDIT: For Canon network printer discovery, you need the avahi-daemon installed and running.

Thanks David, but I solved it for myself now. The program at /usr/local/bin/cifip2600 was searching for libpng12.so.0 in /usr/lib32. Symlinking the existing lib32/libpng14.so to lib32/libpng12.so.0 solved the issue. It seems though, like my printer is no longer able to properly feed the paper. It just sucks it in on one side, crushing it a little, and then stops. Need to take a look inside...
EDIT: Okay, it seems like my (6.35mm -> 3.5mm)-Headphone-Adaptor fell inside and caused the mess. Works fine now.
