[SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

Hi everyone.

I have just installed Sickbeard and SABznbd but I am having issues setting up the directories in both. I have some folders setup which are:

/home/media/Public/nzb
/home/media/Public/usenet
/home/media/Public/completed

The directories are under my lvm and it would appear that this is causing me some grief.

If I try and set these directories in sabnzbd I get the following error (doesn't matter which folder I try and set):

Incorrect parameter
Cannot create download_dir folder /home/media/Public/usenet

if I set it to /tmp/usenet (did this as test) then it has no issues.

My folders have the following permissions:

drwxrw-r--  2 media users     4096 Nov  2 10:29 completed
drwxrw-r--  2 media users     4096 Nov  2 14:41 nzb
drwxrw-r--  2 media users     4096 Nov  2 10:26 usenet

now the other issue I am having is that in sickbeard if I try and add existing shows and then go to add the path to the current folders I already have I just don't get any further than the media folder.

So I'm not sure what I can do from here.

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

Do you run SABnzbd as user media? Because only "media" has write permissions to your directories. SABnzbd needs write permisisons.

If you use the AUR package and the rc.d script, either edit /etc/conf.d/sabnzbd to let it run as media user, or for example chown media:sabnzbd && chmod 775 or chmod 777 your folders.

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

I've now changed to be:

drwxrwxr-x  2 sabnzbd users    4096 Nov  2 10:29 completed
drwxrwxr-x  2 sabnzbd users    4096 Nov  2 14:41 nzb
drwxrwxr-x  2 sabnzbd users    4096 Nov  2 10:26 usenet

But still no joy. I tried changing the user to be media but it didn't work but I was unsure what I needed to add to this part:

# If you use a username and password, change the following variable to

# "user:pass@"

SABNZBD_USPW=""

Should it be:

SABNZBD_USPW="user:pass@"

?

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

You do not need to set SABNZBD_USPW, if you didn't configure authentification in SABnzbd.

Double-check that it can write to all configured directories.

grep "_dir" /opt/sabnzbd/sabnzbd.ini

I found the file it is in:

by the looks of it I can't:

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

I've added my user to group sabnzbd which got the sabnzbd working but I still can't set the folders.

EDIT: I've even tried setting the permissions on the folders to 777 but it still won't let me so something is up that is for sure.

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

Just grep the file as root. Or look at Config -> Folders in the WebUI.

I assumed you used the sabnzbd PKGBUILD from AUR. That one installs to /opt/sabnzbd here. But that doesn't really matter.

If it helps, here is how things look on my box:

log_dir = /var/log/sabnzbd                           # sabnzbd:sabnzbd 775
download_dir = /daten/filesharing/nntp/download      # tom:sabnzbd 755
incomplete_dir = /daten/filesharing/nntp/incomplete  # tom:sabnzbd 755
complete_dir = /daten/filesharing/nntp/complete      # tom:sabnzbd 755
script_dir = /var/lib/sabnzbd/scripts                # sabnzbd:sabnzbd 775
nzb_backup_dir = ""
cache_dir = /var/lib/sabnzbd/cache                   # sabnzbd:sabnzbd 775
dirscan_dir = /daten/filesharing/nntp/nzbs           # tom:sabnzbd 755
web_dir = Plush
web_dir2 = ""
email_dir = ""
admin_dir = /var/lib/sabnzbd/admin                   # sabnzbd:sabnzbd 775

.. and sabnzbd runs as tom:sabnzbd

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

That config uses relative paths, so /usr/share/sabnzbd/Download/complete as complete_dir for example.

You can manually edit that file and change the folders to your likings (see my config snippet)
The user you decide to run sabnzbd needs write permissions on all of them. Also sabnzbd.ini needs to be writeable.
That's the whole trick.

Just out of curiosity: what versions are you using from AUR? My Sickbeard & Sabnzbd folders look quite different, using sickbeard-git and sabnzbd-0.6.10.

I am using this sabnzbd-0.6.10 as well. http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=13691 I only installed it this week.

I have been trying to set it to /home/media/Public/usenet for one of the folders so I could just manually set it to that in the ini file.

So I should probably change the owner of the file to media and group sabnzbd or user media and group users?

What should I set the file permissions to 755?

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with Sickbeard & SABznbd

Got it sorted. Turns out that in the web gui I needed to put single quotation marks around the path for it to work.

and should I change the user and group of the file?
