Dwarf Fortress x86_64 - "Main index file missing/corrupted."

So, I installed "dwarffortress" from [multilib], and tried to start it up, and was greeted with this error:

Main index file missing/corrupted.  The file "index" must be in the "data" folder.  Make sure DF decompressed into its folders properly.

I'm not sure what to do from here. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Help would be appreciated. Both a Google search and a forum search returned nothing particularly related or useful.

Since you are aware that it is a bad idea to necro-post, then please don't do it.

Please open a new thread (with a link to this one if you feel it is helpful information), and post the relevant errors and setup you have.

All the best,
