Hey,
I just had he same problem today, not the same cause as the ones describes in this thread, but the same effect, my X started to crash after I had upgraded the kernel and nvidia.
Now as soon as I login from SLIM I barely see my wallpaper and then X crashes.
Anyone would have an idea of what's going on?:

That is actually a bug.

Ignorance time:
shouldn't be this problem avoided, using an i686 kernel compiled enabling PAE?
Good question, I don't know. But I don't think it would help here. Need to research.

I just upgraded my OTHER (non-dvb) box, also with an nvidia card--and X crashed on it, too...
[drm] Failed to open device
No devices detected
No screens found.
nouveau and nouveau-cli is working fine under linux-3.1-4...
Hey, be nice...I'm new at this!

That's like no information at all. There is no way to say if this is the same problem, a different one or your own fuckup.

To complete the picture and make it easier for Graysky I can report that linux-ck-kx and nvidia-ck-kx 285.05.09-6 installed with pacman 4 works just fine (with dvb card disabled)
OT; anyone know of a HD/MPEG4 dvb-t card/maybe usb for linux?
