Cannot access external hard drive

After a day googling and searching through the forums, I somehow have not been able to find a solution for this. It seems that it does mount, however only points to a shortcut which to my knowledge I cannot do anything with. I have only been using Arch for roughly two days, so please bear with me. big_smile thanks! here is a screenshot just to see what I am talking about. http://www.mediafire.com/i/?23x6xoecy7sb5ys

Re: Cannot access external hard drive

/dev/disk/by-label/* is a symlink pointing to the device node - what you need to find is the mountpoint e.g /mnt/whatever, /media/whatever. The 'mount' command will help you with that.

Re: Cannot access external hard drive

If you can access it as root but not as normal user, see that this is not your problem (and solution).
