Deformed Sound, not working microphone.

Hi there,
i can't do my sound to work properly. I have laptop asus m50vc and i'm using alsa. Sound from front speakers is deformed and microphone don't work. I have hda intel card. I know that my sound card works, because it was working on windows. I tried a lot of configuring with OSS. With OSS i have normally playes sound, but still don't work microphone and didn't work jack sense (and kmix don't work with alsa). I know that on ubuntu it was working and i tried some settings from there.

I have hda intel card and it's very dificult to config. hmm

I can't help you much with OSS, but for ALSA, this "1043:1893" VendorID:DeviceID means that your system uses the ALSA Realtek ALC663 codec if you dig into the Linux kernel source code:

Subsystem: 1043:1893

and this bit of information you provided comes right out and shows it:

Codec: Realtek ALC663

and so does this:

snd_hda_codec_realtek

This is saying that you are attempting to use the "laptop" ALSA quirk:

snd-hda-intel: model=laptop

But that's not even shown as a valid parameter for the "ALC662/663/272" codecs:

Have you tried any of the other valid ones? Or even used no "model=" parameter at all?

I don't speak Czech, so I'm totally guessing that the folks here might be saying that the "model=m51va" ALSA Realtek 663 Codec quirk may work for the ASUS M50Vc:

I tried to change model with some options, but on each site they have different options. Some are common. On alsa site i seen even that some changed to asus model.

Very thx for that czech site. I used google translate ( to transalte site) i know what i should write there, but i don't know where to add this option some site say /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf , others /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf and some /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base or even in /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf. How is in arch ?

I'm confused. Maybe all works, but what difference are beetwen them ? Or give a site where i should check.

Oki, i tried some with that czech site, first i think that arch producers or ubuntu (dunno who) changed something with options there.
Normally they say to give something like this

options snd-hda-intel model=m51va

on some site they gave with DOT (!) and for me with dot on booting was ok, but didn't work.

options snd-hda-intel.model=m51va

And afther some search i seen like this:

options snd-hda-intel model="m51va"

On booting with that last i have this answer:

Tried with m51va and m50vc. Nothing change. I found that in alsamixer i have writen Nvidia MCP77/78 HDMI, but i have Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) that is realtek alc 663.
