How to show logos at boot?

Well, this is a irrelevant question but:

How can i view those logos at boot? Something like this:

CZylV.png

I have a nettop with an Atom and a video intel graphic chip 945GME. The system use the KMS by default, so i haven't any "vga=" option in my boot kernel line.

In this moment  I finished to compile the linux-ck kernel (from AUR) and with the make menuconfig i select "Bootup logo" but when i restarted my system with the new kernel it isn't showed.

What can i do to show it? ¿Does i need to deactivate "modesetting by default" in the kernel configuration, compile it again and put some "vga=" in my boot line? And in that case, what is the consequences to deactivate it?

Re: How to show logos at boot?

AFAIK, this post is indeed irrelevant to the Kernel and Hardware, but I'll try to answer the best that I can anyways.

I've seen this done in quite a few videos of arch booting up on youtube, and they claim that they are using the framebuffer. I think  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fbsplash contains more info on how to do what you want, correct me if I'm wrong though.

Re: How to show logos at boot?

See the linux-ck PKGBUILD in the AUR for the code you'll need as well as for the Arch logos should you wish.

Thread solved smile
