I updated my system and the following updates were performed:
x264 (20111001-1 -> 20111030-1)
ffmpeg (20111003-1 -> 20111108-1)
After this, mpd failed at startup so I dowgraded these two packages and it works again.
Did anybody else experience this after the update?

Ok, I got it... I compiled mpd from source last weekend because I played around a bit and forgot to modify my xinitrc to start the version installed with pacman and apparently the compiled version caused the problem somehow.
