In the wiki of XFCE it recommends to use Slim as the login manager: I use it via inittab, but the same wiki states that Slim's development has been dropped and suggests to use LXDE for this... how can we setup a login manager via inittab with LXDE? Its not really clearly explained..... and i'm a bit lost in this.

LXDM, not LXDE, and the setup would be the same.

lightdm is also very good. Use it as my xfce login manager.
