[SOLVED]vlc crash X with xorg-1.11

As title, so I downgrade to xorg 1.10(xorg110 repo), then vlc work fine.

I have no problem with vlc and X.

$ pacman -Q {xorg-server,vlc,nvidia}
xorg-server 1.11.2-2
vlc 1.1.12-3
nvidia 285.05.09-3

I have the same Problem, after I have installed the catalyst driver from the unoffical repo. (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AT … positories)!

Every time I start a video my X chrashed and I have no idea how to fix it.

so..the problem maybe catalyst driver?
I'm using catalyst driver 11.11 (Radeon HD 5670)

Use "GLX" in your video-setting instead of "XV".

You can call me a noob, but it's not clear to me what settings are we talking about.
Do I have to look in vlc, xorg or something else?

The problem also affects mplayer, but 3d games like nexuiz runs just fine.

EDIT: Never mind, I get it. It's vlc's, and XV means XVideo, if I'm correct.

Open vlc and open settings (ctrl+p). Select video settings and change output setting X11 or GLX.

I managed to figure out before I have seen your post, but thanks for the fast reply.

By the way, just for the record. For mplayer the solution is changing the vo option in .mplayer/config.
I set it to vo=gl, but I don't really know which one is the best from all the possible options.

How do you resolve this problem with a webcam Hercules HD Exchange, because when i want to use it on skype, X server crashed :s
