I've just updated to kernel 3.1.2, on an Acer Aspire 3820G Laptop, and starting from the very first boot stages I get a lot of errors from the kernel that I think will soon fill up my /var/log directory This is an excerpt from tail -f /var/log/errors.log:

What's going on? I think I'll go back to 3.1.1, but I'd like to know what's happening, why, and if someone else can reproduce it.
I guess the bug is upstream.
Any hint?

What is connected to that port. Not seeing a problem here so I'm guessing its specifically something you've plugged in via USB. A portable hard drive maybe?
EDIT: A quick google search gives this:
Some hardware just don’t work with ehci_hcd. ehci_hcd is now compiled into the kernel so the following is required to disable it:
cd /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/
sudo sh -c 'find ./ -name "0000:00:*" -print| sed "s/\.\///">unbind'
However as I am simply reposting this from another forum I will not be able to help you further with this.
EDIT2: More information about driver binding/unbinding is here: http://lwn.net/Articles/143397/

Thanks llawwehttam, unbinding the device from the driver, as suggested in the article from lwn.net, makes the error disappear.
A simple
$ echo -n "1-1:1.0" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/hub/unbind
did the trick.

same error, unbound with
echo -n "4-1:1.0" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/hub/unbind
lost keyboard, rebooted and everything is A ok.
glad I didn't follow some other options as to quiet the error.
thanks guys.
