Xbox controller is no longer recognized - one blink and death

I have a wired Xbox 360 controller which I have used very much in my Arch system, with no problem. I haven't used it for a few months, though. Now, when I plug it in, there is a very big chance it will blink once and then die, without being recognized.

If I'm very lucky, it will be recognized, but then it might die while I'm using it. It's all really random, and didn't happen to me a few months ago.

What's going on? It's quite frustrating tongue

(Just in case, I have an up-to-date system. Ah, googling a little bit came up with this question: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/ … 02618.html . The problem seems to be the same as mine.)

Are you using the xpad module? Anything in the logs?

I use xboxdrv works really well, there is a package available in AUR.
