[SOLVED] no sound in arch

Hello all,

I had gnome3, sound worked.  Installed Mate and the sound worked.  I uninstalled gnome 3 and now I don't have any sound.  It appears that everything is set up correctly.

I have an nvidia 460 GPU, but my soundcard is a soundblaster.

I unmuted everything in alsamixer and when I come into alsamixer, the sound card is set to:

SB Audigy 2 ZS

so my card is being recognized.

speaker-test -c 6 results with this:

speaker-test -c 6

speaker-test 1.0.24.2

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 64 to 16384
Period size range from 16 to 16384
Using max buffer size 16384
Periods = 4
was set period_size = 4096
was set buffer_size = 16384
 0 - Front Left
 4 - Center
 1 - Front Right
 3 - Rear Right
 2 - Rear Left
 5 - LFE
Time per period = 17.580887

It appears things are working correctly, but not sound, checked volume knob on my speakers, it's not turned down.

any ideas?  I would hate to have to do a re-install of arch tomorrow.

**EDIT**
I removed volti and changed the subject since this appears to be a setting in arch that is causing this.

Re: [SOLVED] no sound in arch

I mucked around with alsa mixer and muted a channel and now I have sound.  However, when I run:

speaker-test -c 6

the app cycles through my speakers, however sound comes out of all the speakers at once for the individual channels front left and front right.  I do not get any sound out of either of the rears or the center.  I double checked alsa mixer and all the volumes are turned up.

Is there a way I can get arch to send sound to the correct speakers?
