[SOLVED]Connecting problem with pacman and Broadcom BCM4312

Hi,
I'm new in Arch and my english isn't perfect, but i hope you will help me.

My networking card is Broadcom ([14e4:4315] BCM4312), i was installed b43 driver with AUR and internet connection works good. I added to blaclist b43 legacy driver. My connection manager is wicd. My daemons are : hwclock, syslog-ng, dbus, netfs, crond, wicd.

Network works while I do

pacman -Sy

. Later connetction will do "broken" and doesn't work for a few minutes. Network comeback finally, but when I use pacman network is broken again.

I hope you're understanging my problem and helps me with them.

When this happens, are you able to access the internet by other means (ping, dig, traceroute, firefox etc.)? If you are, try changing your mirror in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.

I use that chip in my HP. Here is what I recommend:

Don't use any driver from the AUR. Use the b43 driver in recent kernels (Do not blacklist b43)
You will need b43-firmware from the AUR (But this is not a driver. It is code that is uploaded to your chip at start up)

No, for some time I don't have internet connection. Later all returns back.

Can You describe this more? I don't understand what you want me say (or i can't do this).

You can't blame a fella for not spelling out a procedure that is nicely documented in the wiki.

If you have any specific questions, just ask. Part of doing your homework when using Arch is learning about AUR, and PKGBUILDs.

actually, a windstorm knocked out my power and cell service about 30 hours ago. at least my cell service is back. 80 kt. Winds shredded all the trees here in Pasadena.

I know what is written in wiki. I was doing everything what there is. I'm installed b43-firmware and added to blackilst b43-firmware legacy.
Internet working but troubles starting when i run pacman. I don't know what causes it. I had hope that You tell me. My ideas are finished...

1. Please read ewaller's first suggestion to you again. I think you mix up b43-firmware and the b43-legacy driver. This is the firmware he writes about: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21690
2. Check you have installed it and configured your card with it.
3. Check you have blacklisted: b43legacy (NOT b43-firmware legacy)
4. Check your connection again if it works

5. Check your pacman mirrors in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and enable some which are close to your location.
6. Update your reps: pacman -Sy

Ok, I did what you tell me and this no pacman fault.
Describe what happened:
I test my connection "ping" command. Three minutes later I got the message :

ping: sendmsg: no buffer space available

ping: sendmsg: Network is unreachable

.
Later I don't have internet connection.

Have You any ideas?

Ok, or not ok.
In your previous post you said your internet / browsing the www is working. Is that stable? For example: if you go to youtube and watch a longer video, or download a bigger file (like the arch image). Does the connection stay up and working without no troubles? Or does it break down as well at times?
How do you start pacman? Within a bash in your window manager?

Please post output from the following commands when your wifi works:

iwconfig
ip addr 
ip route

I haven't window manager, only text mode (as yet) And no, connection don't working without troubles. It works about 5 minutes and then connection is stopped (suddenly).

Only console and that nickname you have chosen, that is indeed funny ;-)
But anyway. To your output. In the routing it all looks normal as far as I can say.
The iwconfig shows no errors to that point + you don't use encryption.
But the bitrate is down to minimum which might point to a driver problem still.

Maybe your hardware is just a little different. Do some tests yourself:
1. check you have the other optional drivers for the chipset in your setup (legacy & wl)
2. uncomment the blacklisted legacy
3. after reboot, make sure in testing that you unload any driver for the chip
4. try out the legacy driver and (only if that really does not work) later the wl driver manually

Your chip is actually listed in the wl section as well, but .. well .. wl (read the warning on the wiki on it).

Another point of the problem of course may be the router: Either it is a bad router or someone else's router might disturb your channel.
So, perhaps try to change channels on the router as well (dont use auto channel).

Good point. Check if you have installed "inetutils" and "net-tools" - http://www.archlinux.org/news/hostname- … inetutils/
Maybe you can also get hold of an ethernet cable to get your system uptodate first, if that is not the case. dhcpcd has moved forward since that patch.

Pacman is here innocent.
I have installed package "inetutils" and "net-tools".
I don't try other drivers yet. Dhcpcd don't shows previos error (I think that it was cause). Unfortunately network still breaks.
After some time ping command shows : Network unreachable.

I begin to lose hope ;(

That I understand as: Your system is uptodate, i.e. your dhcpcd version and the netools packages also. In that case I would not worry about that patch from September for now.

Yes of course. My advice now would be you try the other drivers available for the chip (see above).

A second thought would be, if your router has the problem. But since you dont use encryption that is unlikely. However, if you have other wifis close, they might interfere with your connection channel. Maybe you can look into the router log, if you see something there about the error.
