[SOLVED] Upgrade pacman -Syu on 11/30/11 broke system

After issuing upgrade command, I am unable to boot into system at all.
I get:
Error: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device.
Installation is on 16GB flash-drive with separate boot partition.
I have been upgrading system for months with no problems.

Please advise.

Thanks

Are you able to chroot into your system using a live cd ?

I think this isn't a pacman-issue, but a hdd issue...

You're not alone...
Add 'quiet' to your kernel boot line

Re: [SOLVED] Upgrade pacman -Syu on 11/30/11 broke system

Thanks to everyone who contributed responses to my request so speedily.
It seems that adding "quiet" to my kernel line in menu.lst has resolved the issue.
I have since done another "pacman -Syu" and am having no problems rebooting.

Thanks
