[kernel_update] microphone stoped working

Hello

I got Asus k40in laptop, and after recent update to kernel 3.1 any microphone (internal, external) stoped working

i solved the problem with downgrading the kernel package, but it's kinda strange decision

00:08.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP79 High Definition Audio (rev b1)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 16f3
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
        Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
        Latency: 0 (500ns min, 1250ns max)
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 23
        Region 0: Memory at fae78000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
        Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel

this is my soundcard

as for some application messages, mumble tells that "failed to open ALSA input", i played around with alsa mixer etc, but level of microphone gain in mumble just stands still, also no microphone recording in skype etc

what can it be?

sorry for not detailed information, but i just dont know, what can be useful
