[SOLVED] How to reverse the way the Fn key works?

My laptop's keyboard has various extra keys (such as brightness control and multimedia keys) overlapped with the F1-F12 keys.

To increase the brightness, I have to press the F3 key.

But to actually use just F3, I have to press the function key as well, i.e. Fn+F3.

Since I use the F1-F12 keys much more often than the various multimedia keys, I wish to switch this behaviour. When pressing F3, I want the system to receive the simple F3 event. When pressing Fn+F3, I want the system to receive the brightness increase event.

How could I best accomplish this?

Thanks!

Check your BIOS settings.  You should have a key to press at the BIOS splash screen to enter the BIOS configuration.

You're right, that did it!

The BIOS had the option of toggling this behaviour.

Thanks!
