makepkg -s: pcman can't resolve dependencies

I need to install an AUR package, bumblebee, but when I use the command "makepkg -s" I'm told that pacman can't find virtualgl.  I tried installing virtualgl manually, but then I was again told pacman can't find a certain package.  Then sometime later I tried the same thing with yaourt and got the same result.  Now I'm wondering if I really need to install all the dependencies myself or am I missing some kind of mechanism that handles this for me?

[jarl@jarl bumblebee]$ makepkg -s
==> Making package: bumblebee 2.4.1-7 (Sat Dec  3 12:55:36 MST 2011)
==> Checking runtime dependencies...
==> Installing missing dependencies...
Password:
error: target not found: virtualgl
==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies.

That pkg is also in the AUR.  Pacman only looks into the repos you define in /etc/pacman.conf for info.  Also, it does not handle looking in the AUR.

As far as I know, using yaourt should free you from the need of taking care of dependencies. Also, you're reporting an error generated by makepkg, which you shouldn't need to use if you have yaourt. Hope that this helps!

Just fetch the other package from AUR too and install it. You might want to install it as a dependency.

Until you understand how makepkg works, it is a bad idea to use an AUR manager IMO.  Do what Awebb says.

If you're having problems downloading virtualgl, you may want to look at the recent comments on the package:
