Problems with mouse jumping to screen edge

Hi

Ive had a look through the forum and cant find anything with similar problems.
I have just installed arch with AwesomeWm and the mouse will jump to the edge of screen randomly. When I try to move the mouse after this is stuck to the top of the screen but will move freely on the x-axis. Clicking will return the mouse to its position but this will happen every 10 seconds. I understand awesome is designed to be used without the mouse but on the occasion it would help.

I am using a Hp dv5 laptop with the track-pad. The awesome config is set as default.
