{SOLVED] .Unable to install ArchLinx in virtual box. Squashfs problem.

Hi friends,

I recently made my mind to try Archlinux. I download the Core image from download page and decided to try it out in virtualbox. I am using linux Mint 12 at the moment. I couldn't pass the third stage where I had to set the time zone. Following are the screen shots. Can you tell me what is it that I am missing? Is it a fault in the downloaded ISO, or has it something to do with virtualbox?
Btw I have burnt the iso and booted annother computer with that CD and I found exact errors in that too. I decided not to go ahead after this.

The screen shots:

and same error after I decide to set timezone

Thank you.

I assume you've checked for architecture mismatch and that your hardware is capable of virtualizing in the first place, right?

Well, I use an Intel based PC and I think that i686 version is for such PCs. I have used some other distros in virtualbox on the same machine without any problem. I planned to re install virtualbox too, but when I saw that the problems persist on the two Intel PCs I have on booting from CD, I decided to ask for help.

So you have tried this on two separate machines? Provided they were of the correct architecture, there is pretty much no reason for it to fail to boot, meaning the iso could very well be bad. Try redownloading it and doing a checksum of the file before using it.

OK. I am re downloading the I686 core ISO.

btw I have Intel® Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz processor with Intel 915 motherboard. Does this count as i686?

It could be a possible bad media disk, bad drive, bad memory modules or, corrupted iso image.

Would you mind running

 uname -m

That should give you your architecture.
