nano ~/.xinitrc
conky | while read -r; do xsetroot -name "$REPLY"; done &

every time I login as root or user (doesn't discriminate) I get a Failed to execute Login Command!
What am I doing wrong???
(also I am using archlinux-simpleblack for slim login. Anyone prefer one of the other standard themes?)

I don't see why conky would interfere, but if you can reproduce the problem with conky turned off, that will at least help you narrow the problem down.
Edit: In other words,
mv .xinitrc{,_bk} && echo exec ck-session-launch dbus-launch dwm > .xinitrc

Is ~/.xinitrc executable? I'm not sure if it matters, but mine is.
