Bastion in the Chrome Web Store!

Guys, I just noticed this: http://supergiantgames.com/?p=1231

I've been trying to run it on Chromium 15 (from extra/64-bit) to no avail. According to this:

http://www.ubuntuvibes.com/2011/12/how- … stion.html

...it should work on Linux (64-bit). I've found these reports might be related:

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issue … &id=106519

http://code.google.com/p/chromium-os/is … d=23826#c0

Any luck on your side? Reviews for this game on PC have been great since it was released on Steam some time ago!

I actually have had the same problem.  So you aren't alone but I don't know how to fix it.

Re: Bastion in the Chrome Web Store!

Well, given the recent activity on the bugs mentioned above, I guess compiling from source might be necessary to try the game right now. If it turns out these bugs are the problem after all sad

OK, I can confirm Bastion runs on Chromium 18 big_smile (Installed from AUR, package chromium-browser-bin).

Re: Bastion in the Chrome Web Store!

does it work only for 64bit system?
I installed chromium 18 from AUR, but when i  try to install bastion the button "add to chrome" grays out to "checking" and then nothing happens.
I'm on 32bit.

Edit: nevermind, it was actually this bug: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issue … ?id=102924

Edit2: i still don't believe i'm actually playing this game in a browser big_smile

Believe it... it's this sort of software which has long been promised / threatened, which has the potential to seriously undermine the concept of "what OS are you running". Google is doing something similar with it's iPad app within Chrome, which basically uses Chrome to run all sorts of Google stuff, independent of the underlying Apple iOS (including the restrictions Apple places on official Apps).

By going this route, Google is able to bypass the restrictions and limitations of the OS its browser is running on to an increasing degree.

EDIT: Oh yeah - the game itself is pretty cool! (running it using AUR's chromium-browser-bin, 64-bit)

do you have a link to this app?

Another question: are you playing Bastion with the machine in your sig? Is it smooth with a 8400m?

Re: Bastion in the Chrome Web Store!

Amazing technology, especially given how smooth the game runs. I tried playing it using SRware iron since I hate tracking, but it is missing a plug-in, which I can only assume is google's native client technology. Can anyone confirm this?

I also second the game being awesome. Stylistically it reminds of the Mana series from back in the day mixed with a western flair.

Re: Bastion in the Chrome Web Store!

I believe that NaCl is available in Iron 16 via a separate zip. Iron 16 is currently available only for windows, so you'll have to wait a bit.
