I don't get this message quite as often now...

Re: [SOLVED] Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.Avahi': timed out

I've added this command "/etc/rc.d/avahi-daemon start" in /etc/rc.local

and after few hours and few reboot the error didn't come out yet

Re: [SOLVED] Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.Avahi': timed out

Miky76, why did you choose that method instead of putting avahi-daemon in your rc.conf / modules section?

I am getting this error regardless of avahi-daemon being turned on at boot time or not

Edit:
I have to note that I have no problems on bootup, or any other problems besides this spamming my log files

Re: [SOLVED] Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.Avahi': timed out

Hi Kaurin,

in the wiki it says:

After installing Avahi you will need to restart the dbus daemon before you can start avahi-daemon.

Note: avahi-daemon depends on dbus daemon, so it should be added after dbus in the DAEMONS array in rc.conf file
Note: Sometimes adding avahi-daemon to /etc/rc.conf can cause it to load too early and fail. One possible solution is to add it as "/etc/rc.d/avahi-daemon start" in /etc/rc.local.

this is the link
