got grafiK sKillz?

Anybody have some graphic design skills?

The three icons at the top of the forum have been bugging me lately.  They don't look anything like each other, and I think some people don't even know what they are til they click on them.  Perhaps we could get 3 more that were a little more obvious, and shared a theme of some sort.

Can anyone make some better ones?

Yeah, and the phpwiki icon will hopefully be made obsolete at some point in the future...

I think he's actually trying to appeal to those people with a hip outlook - which i think is a good thing.  No offense to my fellow oldies!

Re: got grafiK sKillz?

Given Aperio's status as the founder of this community, I figure he can speak however he likes, though I must confess I wontder what he was thinking... ;-)

As for the phpWiki icon, we're still going to need a generic wiki icon, right?

And while at it, why not make nicer 'new topic' and 'post reply' icons?

I would think so. Just something that represents Wiki, without the specifics of being a phpwiki. Like you said..generic.

Re: got grafiK sKillz?

I created one for AUR.  Dunno if it's nicer, but I kinda like it.  Haven't had much of a chance to work on the other two though.
Don't really know what to do with the one I have though.   roll

Re: got grafiK sKillz?

Wow, that's nice!!

Could you give it a sort of border that makes it look like a button? maybe rounded corners or something?

Re: got grafiK sKillz?

I was actually thinking rounded corners after I looked at it again.  And you mean like a darker border?

Re: got grafiK sKillz?

I'm not sure what I mean... rounded corners might be enough, but as it sits, it doesn't look "clickable" -- like a button. Maybe if you gave the whole thing a slight 3d look?

A bit smaller in dimensions would be good, too.

You posted an icon and lost it?

I think I'd laugh at you if you didn't keep a copy on your hd...

Re: got grafiK sKillz?

Read the last page. https://iphitus.no-ip.org/arch/icons/

My meaning was 'heloooooo i posted something, does anyone want to acknowledge my presence?'

happens to me all the time.....................hence me hating when it happens. it's not fun when like you've tried to do something, offered it to others, and been ignored.
