Minecraft - No Fullscreen

I am having an odd problem when running Minecraft, it works fine until I try to change it to fullscreen using F11, which just causes the game to flicker as if it is changing to fullscreen briefly (less than a second) but the window size does not change at all. Apart from that I haven't noticed any problems with running the game.

I am a recent convert (as in apart from a few very short tests in a VM, yesterday was my first Arch install on an actual machine) from Linux Mint and unfortunately am not really familiar with what really makes it tick yet so I can't think of what may be causing the problem and haven't been able to find a solution or even a simillar issue on these forums or through google.

I am running Gnome 3 + MGSE (Mint Gnome Shell Extensions) and have the proprietary Nvidia drivers installed if that helps or could possibly be the cause of the problem.

EDIT: I changed my mind on using Gnome at all and switched DE's, Minecraft now runs in fullscreen but I still don't know what was stopping it before

Re: Minecraft - No Fullscreen

I know that I'm a bit late and I know that maybe it is not the right solution but I eventually managed to get full screen under gnome shell placing minecraft window on a new workspace and then toggling full screen mode. It worked for me, I hope this may be useful to someone.
