[Solved] WiFi very slow on X201 (iwlagn regression?)

I've suddenly noticed that my WiFi has slowed down considerably - perhaps after an update recently.

It used to be able to pull 8Mbps but now I only get 2Mbps. Sometimes I also notice a lot of lag while browsing, I don't know if this is related.

Usually I'm using Netcfg, but I've tried wpa_supplicant/dhcpcd with the same result.

I've tried disabling IPv6 (I saw this tip somewhere) to no avail.

There's no slow-down on a wired connection and there's nothing wrong in Fedora at all.

The laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad X201 with this wireless adapter:
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (rev 35)

Edit: I just -Syu'd my T500 which hadn't been updated in a long time. It now has the issue too. Downgrading the kernel (in this case way back to 2.6) fixes it. So it seems to be an issue with the kernel. Anyone know anything about that?

Re: [Solved] WiFi very slow on X201 (iwlagn regression?)

Sort of solved - for now. Following a tip from Red Hat Bugzilla I put my router into what it calls "legacy mode":

The options are:

Up to 54 Mbps - Legacy Mode with maximum speed of up to 54 Mbps for b/g networks.
Up to 130 Mbps - Neighbor Friendly Mode - Default speed up to 130 Mbps in presence of neighboring wireless networks.
Up to 270 Mbps - Performance Mode - Maximum Wireless-N speed up to 270 Mbps.
The default is "Up to 130Mbps", which allows all 11b and 11g wireless stations. The NETGEAR WN511B runs at 130 Mbps when accessing this router.

Possibly my problem is related to this iwlagn regression in v3.1.5. I'll wait for 3.2 and see if it solves it.

Solved in 3.1.6
