Installing Arch on an Acer aspire 3820-tg laptop

Hi arch community and merry Xmas!
I installed arch on my Acer aspire 3820-tg laptop and kept a detailed log on what I had to do to get everything working.
The log describes my first serious encounter with arch and can be found here:

http://piratepad.net/arch-install-pad (sorry for bad english, spelling mistakes, etc. - I didn't intend to show it to anybody at first)

Almost everything went fine but I ran into some troubles with netcfg and bootsplash.
I couldn't get splashy or fbsplash to compile (it complained on wrong version of automake and when I changed the dependency in PKGBUILD it complained about illegal macros)
and netcfg didn't want to connect to my university network.

And finally, did a (sortof) funny background with gimp:
