SOLVED Locale troubles

I've set up my locale using the guide in the wiki if I run locale-gen i get this

Generating locales...
  en_GB.UTF-8... done
  en_GB.ISO-8859-1... done
  en_US.UTF-8... done
  en_US.ISO-8859-1... done
Generation complete.

However whenever I try to install from the AUR i still get the  bsdtar: Failed to set default locale error. It's driving me crazy!
Somebody suggested I uncomment Locale C but I cant see that in /etc/locale.gen where would I find this , I'm new to Arch so please be gentle smile

Thanks in advance

Craig

Re: SOLVED Locale troubles

Which locale have you set up in rc.conf?
What's the output of 'locale -a' and 'locale'?

Re: SOLVED Locale troubles

OK outputs

locale -a:
C
en_GB
en_GB.iso88591
en_GB.utf8
en_US
en_US.iso88591
en_US.utf8
POSIX

locale:
LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_GB.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

From my rc.conf

LOCALE="en_UK.UTF-8"
DAEMON_LOCALE="no"

I've no idea why it isn't working

You have LOCALE="en_UK.UTF-8" in rc.conf but you haven't enabled it in locale.gen.

There's no en_UK.UTF-8 in locale.gen, please pick a proper setting, like e.g. en_GB.utf8.
