[SOLVED] kernel panic - not syncing

hi friends,

i have been able to install and run arch linux on my desktop for the past couple of weeks. I am having this new problem since yesterday. i am reporting this error now because i just turned on the pc for the first time today. The last command I typed in terminal yesterday was pacman -Syu which installed usbmodeswitch , some kde libs and some other software on that pc, total 4 packages upgraded.

Today I see the following screen when I try to boot arch linux.

can someone plz tell me what has happened or how can i get out of this situation?

Thank you.

Re: [SOLVED] kernel panic - not syncing

Here's what I would do:

Boot into your system using a liveCD arch or other liveCD (finnix is recommended).

Following the chroot guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Chroot

Whilst in chroot try running "mkinicpio -p linux" exit chroot and reboot.

If that does not work try updating your system also when in chroot.

This is really strange: I am able to log into my PC using arch linux install CD. I am writing these lines from my desktop PC. The question is: Can I now use the mkinicpio -p linux command?

Re: [SOLVED] kernel panic - not syncing

I am marking this post as Solved because last night when I tried to boot the OS from hard disk in the arch linux install menu from arch install cd, I was able to log in to my pc. And everything is working fine so far. I don't know what caused the problem and what corrected it for me.
