Thinkpad Brightness Control...

I have a thinkpad x201 and all the function keys work just fine except the brightness (fn + up or down arrows), it just gives me a ⊘.  I'm using gnome shell.  It use to work too so it must have been some recent update.

Re: Thinkpad Brightness Control...

Sometimes adding the kernel-boot-parameter acpi_osi=Linux will enable non-working brightness function-keys... Btw, it's usually fn+left/right and not up/down, I believe...

Re: Thinkpad Brightness Control...

Not sure if this also applies to you but I had to append 'Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"' to the Device-Section of xorg.conf. ( link )

Re: Thinkpad Brightness Control...

I'm an idiot... on a thinkpad it's fn + Home or End for brightness control... I'm constantly switching between several arch laptops and the dell is fn + up and down... I think this should go in post "the little things that make you go grr"

I am curious however how to adjust the screen dimming idle timer... there is just a check mark to dim the screen to save power but no timer (10 seconds?  20 seconds?) when on battery.
