That's how it looks right after system start.

your conky has its own window? if it does, thats  the first scrot I've seen using a tiling wm to do that.

Nope, my conky doesn't have its own window. It's just that I have 2 urxvt windows in my startup script (so I can put on the music and get down to work right away). Took me a while to get geometry settings just right for my needs smile

Here's workspace without terminals:

Thanks. It's a bit more lively IRL. jpg format does take away quite a bit of vibrance in the colour.

Example with png:

Re: January 2012 Screenshots

you must invert the values in the xresources file
wherever you see a '0x' make it 'x'
and wherever you see an 'x' make it '0x'
iirc it's 3 values of each

Re: January 2012 Screenshots

solarized works some "base" colors, if you invert those you get the light theme

#define S_base03        #002b36
#define S_base02        #073642
#define S_base01        #586e75
#define S_base00        #657b83
#define S_base0         #839496
#define S_base1         #93a1a1
#define S_base2         #eee8d5
#define S_base3         #fdf6e3

those are your base colors; if you now invert them you get the opposite theme

#define S_base3        #002b36
#define S_base2        #073642
#define S_base1        #586e75
#define S_base0        #657b83
#define S_base00         #839496
#define S_base01         #93a1a1
#define S_base02         #eee8d5
#define S_base03         #fdf6e3

those are lines 22-29 in the Xresources file

Re: January 2012 Screenshots

A lot of beautiful desktops around in this thread: Here I go with my own zenburnish work desk:

Clean:
v1mu0.png
Openbox w/ tint2, pnmixer, deluge and dropbox in systray (note: tint2 w/ "single_desktop"-taskbar)

Cluttered:
1gTWj.png
rxvt running ncmpcpp, thunar, kile with my thesis and chromium browsing the only journal I will ever get published in.

GTK theme is drakfire dream black (GTK2/GTK3), AwOken icons,

Wallpaper is dear old totoro

My own colorscheme for kile: zenburnish.katescema

Tint2 config here

.Xdefaults here

Fluxbox with a custom theme and tint2. Had to switch from fbpanel because I couldn't get it to support drag'n'drop.

I'm running all my terminal stuff inside tmux, hence the weird looking urxvt.

colordump-script (Seems like I got it from this post)

I'm asuming that you're only interested in the colors from my .Xdefault. They are made by a guy called Cinderwick:

I am somewhat amazed over what happens here on the Arch forums. In one thread, people share their WM configuration by trading source code (because there are no settings at run time), in the other thread, people call a wall of text beautiful. Day-making!

One question though: I get this error when conky tries to read the gmail.pl file:

Can't locate Mail/IMAPClient.pm in @INC (...) BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at (...) line 7

Any suggestions?

Oh, and how did you achieve the transparency background effect? Mine is just plain gray...

Err... there was some perl imap package I needed to install before I could run the script, forgot which though sad

And the transparency is achieved by using the back2_white.png file. It is a 1x1px transparent whiteish png, which conky uses as a background. Make sure it is set in conkyrc, the first item in the long line.
