StartX/GDM Keyboard won't work

Hello All,

I am trying to take the plunge and use Arch. But I am having some issues, when I run startx or gdm it starts up and my touchpad works but I am unable to type anything.

Any help is much appreciated.

P.S. I am a bit of a linux noob.

Re: StartX/GDM Keyboard won't work

Hi Pat,

how does your "xorg.conf" look like? smile

Start searching for the

Section "InputDevice"

related to your keyboard so as to check if everithing is ok.
The xorg.conf man page will be helpful.

good luck smile

Re: StartX/GDM Keyboard won't work

Xorg.conf isn't used by default anymore. A better approach might be to check the X log at /var/log/Xorg.0.log, the keyboard stuff is near the bottom. That should help you get a clue as to what's happening with the keyboard.
