Is it possible to Build\install Arch inside Ubuntu?

I installed Ubuntu onto my Folding box but I have decided that I want to use Arch instead so I am wondering if it is possible to build Arch inside of Ubuntu then just use the Arch OS I am very very rusty at Linux so I am not sure if this is even possible

Re: Is it possible to Build\install Arch inside Ubuntu?

Even if it was possible in the end you would end up with some broken beat up monstrosity. Arch is different in many ways system wise. Just install Arch. It is not that hard. There is an installation guide on the wiki. I would say maybe it would be a good idea to back up your package names to reinstall in Arch; but even that might be so different that it wouldn't make sense. Your home folder and a lot of your config files can be migrated to the new system though. Just so you know / clear things up in case you are still confused: Arch is a seperate Linux distrobution. It is an operating system like Ubuntu. A different operating system.

You can use Arch in a VM.
Why can't you just perform the regular Arch install?

If you have a home partition in Ubuntu (sorry, never used the big-U, don't know if home partitions are common), then you could have the installer leave that alone and just make the boot, root, and swap partitions.  You could then keep any documents, media, or files you have and many of your user 'dot'-files.
