Cannot resume from suspend on Asus F5R

Asus F5R laptop
uname -r: 3.1.7-1-ARCH
radeon driver

When using pm-suspend, the computer suspends as it's supposed to do. However, when I try to resume it again, the screen is blank. I can hear the HDD and fans spin up, but the screen is still blank.

pm-suspend.log:

Thu Jan 5 00:06:47 CET 2012: performing suspend

dmesg | grep Hibernation (both with and without resume hook enabled):

[ 0.928657] PM: Hibernation image not present or could not be loaded.

So far I've tried passing hpet=disable to the kernel and rebuilding the initramfs with resume hook, all to no avail.

If you need any more info for helping me, please let me know.

PS.
I've viewed all other threads as well, but they're not relevant to me.

PPS.
Resuming has never worked on this laptop, so it's not related to my current kernel version.

Re: Cannot resume from suspend on Asus F5R

Try a suspend after putting b43, cfg80211 and mac80211 into the pm-suspend blacklist modules hook.

Thanks, but that didn't help.

Re: Cannot resume from suspend on Asus F5R

If with autodetect, you probably have tried this as well in your trials.

Re: Cannot resume from suspend on Asus F5R

Yes, but I still resume to a blank screen.

My /etc/mkinitcpio.conf looks like this

HOOKS="base udev pata scsi sata resume filesystems usbinput

So, to summarise:
I still get the same error message as I did in the first post
mkinitcpio is configured as above
I've created /etc/pm/config.d/modules, with its full content as following: SUSPEND_MODULES="b43 mac80211 cfg80211"

Re: Cannot resume from suspend on Asus F5R

The hooks looks fine to me (you probably omitted the last " in the copy.

If it did not help, you can delete the suspend module entries again. In fact the only other idea I have for you is to try suspicious modules in that hook. If you do that, you can put a number of them in first (e.g. the vga, ahci, laptop_mode, ...) and see if it changes. If yes, delete them from the suspend hook again one by one. Tedious I know.
Or you try available bios options.

Re: Cannot resume from suspend on Asus F5R

Good idea, but that didn't help either. I literally put every running module in the SUSPEND_MODULES, but the screen is the blank when resuming. As for BIOS options, I've got none related to this problem.

I'm beginning to lose my hope on this one.

Re: Cannot resume from suspend on Asus F5R

Ok, thats bad luck really. Further bits to try:

Have you followed this about vbe tool as well?

How about these bits about acpi also. Maybe you should try that with the LTS kernel.

Further (wild guess)  S3 kernel options perhaps to try still (see here

How about a bios update? asus does such often.

Is there any progress with the f5r? I have the same problem, and looking for a solution.
