Joystick (gamcube controller) not being seen by Dolphin

I'm using a usb-to-gc controller adapater from raphnet.net with a wavebird wireless gamecube controller, the problem is that while the utilities jstest and jscal both can use this joystick and I do have a /dev/input/js0, the Dolphin gamecube emulator does not recognize it whatsoever. I found this very weird because I came from ubuntu and Dolphin saw it on there and I could use it just fine.

I installed dolphin from the AUR (dolphin-emu-git 20111022-1) and it installed and runs games just fine. Perhaps I am just missing something here?

Has anyone else been able to use a joystick in Dolphin? I am on 64-bit btw.

Care to enlighten us so we can learn from your mistake?

Well the gtk theme I use made the arrow for the drop down menu the same color as the background. I accidently clicked the seemingly invisible menu and it indeed showed the option to use my controller...

Seems like dolphin has some issues with my theme...
