preload - how to see memory usage?

excuse me for revitalizing this, but this:

Set PRELOAD_OPTS to verbose 10.

still is neccesary to get an output in the log.

btw. my log doesn't inform the memory-usage.

is there an easy way to see how much memory it actually uses?

Shouldn't there be a proccess running wich I can see in htop and therefor the memory usage?

Re: preload - how to see memory usage?

You should see "x available for preloading, using y of it" in the log. Preload fills up caches, so you can't directly see how much memory it uses - you can e.g. drop caches and use dstat to observe the effects of preload's work.

Re: preload - how to see memory usage?

it's not working for me. it is not showing memory usage and now even shows a syntax error:

[studio@myhost ~]$ sudo tail -f /var/log/preload.log

Re: preload - how to see memory usage?

I'd remove that preload.state file, restart preload daemon and see if it works properly then.
