How does kernel init work?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to develop something similar to this: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2011 … ows-8.aspx
For the Linux Kernel. In what part of the kernel source code does the /etc/inittab start to take effect? Sorry if I'm being vague, I'm not really sure what else to say.

Thanks,

Jordan

I hope, or suspect (or maybe not) that you are familiar with TuxOnIce
